Theme 3: Research on Escorted Support for Inclusive Society

Project Leader: TANI, Shinji (College of Comprehensive Psychology Professor )span: 2013/04 - 2016/03

The escorted support team is conducting research on support targeting elderly people/people with disabilities and young people/families with difficulties from three directions. The first is research that develops a method of direct support for people with difficulties (direct support). The second is research on supporter’s support that helps people (for example, people in the fields of psychology and nursing) who work for people with difficulties (supporter support). The third is research concerning methods of maintaining and continuing support (information transition).

Our research team has dubbed these three types of support “escorted support”, and we are engaged in studying them together. Our research targets people of all ages, from small children to the very old, including elderly people, people with disabilities, young people with difficulties in residential care facilities, people who have withdrawn from society and their families, and children who are foreign nationals.
