Call for papers:Health Policy and Politics in Diversifying Societies: Asian and Global Issues(deadline extension: from 8 Sept. to 20 Sept.)

On 28-29 November 2014, Ritsumeikan University’s Institute of Human Sciences (IHS) will host a conference on “Health Policy and Politics in Asia’s Diversifying Societies” in cooperation with the International Political Science Association’s Research Committee on Comparative Health Policy (IPSA RC25). The conference aims to strengthen collaboration and communication among social scientists in Asia and across the world. While we are particularly interested in the development of comparative studies, papers featuring any of the following topics are welcome:

  • Cross-national comparisons of health politics and policy with an emphasis on cultural and ethnic diversity
  • Analytical papers on policies and politics about health and diversity in any dimension
  • Multiculturalism, health policy and politics
  • Strategies for delivering health services: targeting versus universality
  • Comparative perspectives on ethnic minorities, youth, the elderly, maternal and child care, prison populations

Submission of abstracts: Interested scholars are kindly asked to send an abstract of 200-300 words to: by 20 September 2014, with your contact details, including the email address(es) and institutional affiliation(s) of each author.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 08 October 2014. Authors of accepted papers are expected to submit full papers for circulation among participants by 15 November 2014.

Travel/accommodation: Participants must arrange and pay their own travel and lodgings. Limited subsidies towards travel costs may be available to selected participants from low-income countries.
